Original handbill for a rally and work meeting in support of Angela Davis, prominent activist and author, and sponsored by the Campus Young Workers Liberation League (the youth arm of the Communist Party USA). Davis was arrested and eventually acquitted in connection to the 1970 armed takeover of a Marin County, California courthouse that resulted in the death of four individuals. Her arrest and trial galvanized worldwide support for her release, with hundred of committees like this organizing all over the world.
