PROVENANCE:

Purportedly collected by First Lieutenant Harry Gibbons Cavenaugh (1843-1919) of the 13th Regiment U.S. Infantry at Fort Robinson, Nebraska in the 1880's. In the 1870's, Cavenaugh served at Fort Douglas, Salt Lake County, Utah, and in1880 at Fort Union, New Mexico. A career military officer, Cavenaugh eventually rose to the rank of Colonel.
