"Romare Bearden: Revisited," Jerald Melberg Gallery, Charlotte, North Carolina, September 7-November 2, 2002.
Reflecting the time Bearden and his wife spent in St. Martin, At Low Tide was painted a few days before the artist's death in 1988, bringing the colors and clear waters of the Caribbean back to his New York studio. The work represents one of his last artistic endeavors, a sensuous composition of bending branches and body, surrounded by sea and sky.
