The stand is modern. The vargueno case is overall 17th/18th century but has been altered and conserved in the 20th century. Some of the drawer liners have been re-built. In generally good, stable condition. There are old scuffs, scratches and age splits to the case. Some of the interior drawers are missing parts of their handles, and there are other minor losses and flaking to the gilt and painted decoration. The hardware appears to all be present; some of the locking/closure mechanisms no longer align with their counterpart holes due to swelling or shrinkage of the wood. No keys are present but the case can be opened and closed fairly easily. See additional photos for reference.
