Canvas is lined; significant deposits of surface dirt and dust; passages of the canvas are pressed due to the lining process; a few pinpoint brown stains scattered through the lower center and lower right corner; some overcleaning in the woman's forehead; inpainting visible under raking light along the edges. Under UV light: extensive inpainting along the right side, in the background, as well as on the left, within the darker shadows to the left of the sitter's head; dots of inpainting around the woman's eyes, proper left eyebrow, and proper left cheek; additional spots of inpainting in the woman's lips and around her ear; scattered dots of inpainting along the front of the woman's necks and along the left edge of chest, by the lace trim; strokes of inpainting in the lace trim of her bodice; additional dots of inpainting scattered throughout the background.
