In overall fine and stable condition. Appears to retain the original wrought-iron hinges, carrying handles, covered till lock clasp (lacking lock mechanism) and escutcheon. Old scuffs, marks and scratches consistent with age and use. The lid shows a series of old holes along the outer edge that correspond with the holes that appear on the top of the case boards, likely due to the chest having been previously nailed shut. The feet, while likely original, appear to have been detached, one showing that it was previously cracked and reattached. Few other old cracks visible, particularly a repaired crack to the lower molding on the proper right side of the case.  Rubbing and discoloration to the painted surface throughout, particularly to the yellow painted areas which fluoresce under UV, but show as dark under regular lighting conditions.
