Comprising a set of eight with an additional chair, each with a carved and shaped crestrail continuing to stiles enclosing a carved, molded and interlaced splat, on a trapezoidal shell-carved seat, carved cabriole legs ending in ball and claw feet.
H: 37 3/4 in.This set was modeled after a carved armchair made for Charles Thomson, Secretary of Congress during the American Revolution, as illustrated in William M. Hornor, Jr., Blue Book, Plate 225.
