Morris was one of the founding partners in the firm of Duane Morris and served as the Chancellor of the Philadelphia Bar Association, 1933 to 1935. He is perhaps best remembered for his work as ambassador to Japan, 1917 to 1921, and for his special missions to Siberia in 1918 and 1919. Morris' papers are in the Library of Congress.
