The movement is probably not original to the case. Does not appear to be an 18th century movement and the shoulder of the case has been altered to accommodate a new dial. The movement takes a wind, ticks, and strikes when hands are advanced. It has not been tested for duration or accuracy. A winding crank, two weights, and a pendulum are present; the top of the pendulum (the hook which attaches the pendulum to the guide) needs repair. There is a key for the case, and the lock is functional. The case is 18th century with negligible chips, age cracks and nick from age and moving. Areas of decoration have been refreshed in 20th century. The red color and the Japanning might be original or the clock might have been redecorated in the 19th century. The front of the case shows very fine Japanning, which seems 18th century while the sides of the case were decorated in the 20th century. Additional images available upon request.
