retaining nice painted surface, with wear commensurate with age and use, including some some occasional scuffs, scrapes, and scratches, and general fading or paint loss to lid; the lid with some age cracks and two patched repairs to edge, including to left-facing and right-facing corner of front; missing lock, with patch over void; some scuffing, wear, and an area of loss to lid of till; retains original strap hinges; the interior bottom and left-facing side with some darkened residue; the lid with thin wood segment shimmed, which may be later but has been there for a long time- the underside with some insect holes; includes bag with two wood segments - unclear if they were attached to chest at some point; the lid with some occasional fill to lost or recessed areas, mainly along right-facing side
