Framed: 43 1/2 x 35 1/4 x 1 1/2 in.
Moderate deposits of surface dirt and dust; the artwork is composed of one panel and exhibits a significant convex bowing; two vertical seams extend the length of the panel, with a few minor paint losses along the upper and lower portions of the right-hand seam; the left-hand seam is inpainting, but mostly visible only under raking light; one small paint loss each in the lower right and lower left corners; instances of paint losses and small chips to the extreme panel edges; small areas of inpainting scattered throughout the background, visible under strong light; the embroidered black details in the woman's bodice appear to have been strengthened; the woman's hand appear to be mostly inpainted; under a thick and reflective varnish. Under UV light: the thick varnish prohibits clear viewing of older inpainting; the areas of inpainting in the background and in the woman's bodice do not fluoresce, with the exception of a few small areas along the upper edge; more recent inpainting in areas throughout the woman's face, as well as in small areas of the lace cap and collar; inpainting in the lower left corner along the seam, at widest approximately 1 1/2 inches; extensive painting to the woman's hands, and areas of the apron and cuffs that are not lace.
