Moderate deposits of surface dirt and dust; canvas does not appear to be lined and is somewhat loose; areas of overcleaning scattered throughout the surface; a patch repair along the upper right edge on the verso; a series of shallow scratches along the center left edge; pinpoint paint losses in the lower right corner and center left; a faint horizontal line of inpainting extends from the center left edge, approximately 17 inches in length. Under UV light: a t-shaped tear, approximately 3 1/2 x 3 inches, in area of repair patch along the upper right edge; the aforementioned line of inpainting fluoresces; additional small spots of inpainting scattered throughout background, none of which affect the figures; lines and strokes of inpainting along all extreme edges.
