NOTE:
Charlecote Antiques was an anchor of Kansas City’s historic Crestwood neighborhood across four decades. The shop represented a multi-generational passion for scholarship and collecting with an emphasis on British Furniture and Decorative Arts. Opened in 1980 by Kaye Francis Miller, Charlecote built a reputation for sourcing fine 18th century furniture directly from England with a keen eye on craftsmanship and form. Todd Miller soon followed his mother into the business and further developed Charlecote into a world-class retailer. Todd loved taking trips to Europe to find beautiful and unique items to bring back to the shop. He became a staple of the art fair circuit around the nation and endeared himself to both customers and fellow dealers with his knowledge and willingness to teach others.

The portrait of the male figure is lined and has been professionally restored. Heavy craquelure throughout. Sections of in-painting particularly in the background, his face, and his jacket which are visible under UV light. Canvas is varnished. Slight impression in the canvas around the edges from contact with the stretcher bars.
The portrait of the woman is somewhat lax on the stretcher. There are instances of flaking to the paint throughout; mostly along the top right quadrant and in the bottom left corner. Craquelure throughout. Stretcher impressions in the canvas around the edges. There is an indentation in the upper right quadrant and a pin-point hole above her left shoulder. Canvas has not been varnished and there is no visible restoration under UV light.
