A handsome mezzotint portrait of a reflective Benjamin Franklin, based on the 1762 painting by Mason Chamberlin. According to Chaloner Smith, this engraving was Franklin's favorite likeness of himself during the 1760s, as it emphasized his scientific achievements. Franklin personally had them widely distributed.
