Founded on the island of Capri in 1947, Chantecler is a luxury Italian jewelry house known for its exquisite Mediterranean-inspired design. Established by friends Pietro Capuano and Salvatore Aprea, the pair named their brand after the rooster in Edmond Rostand’s play Chantecler, a nod to Capuano’s playful nickname. Their designs are celebrated for their mosaic-like qualities, colorful gemstones, and playful motifs. The brand flourished in the 1950s, embracing ‘la dolce vita’ sentiment adopted by many following the second world war. Chantecler pieces were worn by the likes of Audrey Hepburn, Grace Kelly, and Jackie Onassis. Since Capuano’s death in 1984, the firm has been run by Aprea’s children, with new designs embracing the glitzy and colorful legacy of Capri.
