David Watkins, B. 1940 is a British artist known for his experimental approach to materials and technology turning jewelry into miniature interactive sculptures to move in harmony with the body. He brought computer aided design and space age industrial materials into his work beginning in 1974. Watkins’ acrylic neckpieces produced from the 1970s onwards are an investigation into how light and color interact through the material. He and lifelong partner, Wendy Ramshaw, changed perceptions of modern jewelry design while maintaining individual approaches to their creations. In 2010 a retrospective exhibition of his work was held at the Victoria and Albert Museum, London, titled Artist in Jewellery, a Retrospective View (1972–2010). His work is sought after by private collectors and preserved in the Victoria and Albert Museum, London and the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York.

Overall Condition: The two black components connect to the white component, but not to each other, one gold end cap missing. Acid test indicates 18 karat gold. Some light scratching and faint discoloration to acrylic
