This canvas was originally a painting by an unknown artist. Ting acquired the work and reimagined it, layering his signature monster-like characters in thick impasto directly over the original composition. Several other known examples of this combination exist, reflecting Ting's avant-garde passion for blending traditional beauty with the grotesque.

Existing painting the artist acquired and painted over. Certain condition issues may have been preexisting. Moderate surface dirt, dust, and grime; wear to edges with some associated paint losses; a 1 1/8 inch hole at sitter's hip with surrounding paint loss; varying degrees of craquelure throughout; slight buckling at lower right corner; three pieces of soft clear tape near right corner of lower edge; a repair is visible on the reverse, with associated inpainting recto, visible under UV light.
