Ex. Collection of Hui Yihan (20th Century) and thence by descent in the family.
Hui Yihan was the eldest son of the Republican-era painter Hui Xiaotong (1902–1979), also known as Hui Jun, with the studio names Songxi and Qinglu. In 1920, Hui Xiaotong joined the Chinese Painting Research Association and studied landscape painting under Jin Cheng. In 1927, together with Jin Yinhai and Hu Peiheng, he co-founded the Hushe Painting Association and served in various capacities.
Hui Yihan, his eldest son, later served as Director of Taiwan International Radio and was an accomplished amateur performer of Peking opera. Through organizing performances, he became acquainted with Zhang Daqian. After Hui Yihan’s passing, his descendants relocated to the United States, bringing the family collection with them.
