Price was a noted lawyer in the field of property and real estate law. He was elected to the Pennsylvania State Senate in 1854 to shepherd a bill consolidating separate political and geographical entities into the city of Philadelphia. The Consolidation Act of 1854 transformed the city from 1,200 acres to 122 square miles. Price was instrumental in the passage of many legislations reforming real property law and domestic relations law. Price helped found the Fairmount Park Commission and served as its Chairman until 1884. He also authored publications on law, history and memoirs. His papers are found in the collection of the University of Delaware.
