Staake was a Philadelphia lawyer and Judge of the Court of Common Pleas, No. 5 from 1905 to 1924. He was General Counsel to the Evangelical Lutheran Church of North America and served as the Director of the Lutheran Theological Seminary. His papers are in the collection of the Pennsylvania State Archives.
