Initialed and dated ‘CO ‘69 4/24’ and titled ‘Ice Bag,’ signed again ‘Claes Oldenburg’ and inscribed at bottom tier of base, inscribed again ’mirror' on cap of ice bag and inscribed illegibly on side of base, painted cardboard and fabric construction, with pencil, mounted on wood, assemblage in plexiglas box

This work is a study for a proposed colossal monument at Oberlin College in Ohio. The subject was later realized as The Giant Ice Bag that was shown in the American Pavillion of the Osaka World's Fair in 1970. The Giant Ice Bag was also exhibited in 1971 at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art as part of an exhibition titled Art and Technology.
