Moderate deposits of surface dirt and dust; canvas is not lined; vertical stretcher bar marks and stretcher bar marks around the image perimeter are visible under raking light; an old L-shaped tear repair is visible on the verso, approximately 8 x 7 1/2 inches, with areas of corresponding inpainting visible on the recto; two small white paint droplets in the lower right corner. Under UV light: the aforementioned tear repair fluoresces; inpainting along the upper right edge, as well as along the length of the lower edge; a vertical line of inpainting in the upper center; an area of inpainting in Perseus' upper cloak; possible strengthening to the outline of Perseus' chin and Andromeda's face overall; a stroke of inpainting in the proper left thigh of Andromeda; additional scattered areas of inpainting within the background.
